Uber drivers and GST

 

Recently the Federal Court has agreed with the Commissioner of Taxation by deeming Uber drivers to be the same as taxis for GST purposes.

This high profile case confirmed an earlier direction from the ATO that an Uber driver must be registered for GST, irrespective of any turnover threshold.
